Hit the waves head on and you'll stay dry. Is 200hp enough power? Yes. 200 is plenty.

Man you can get a new 2601 from Hayden Island marine with trailer and alot of options for $59.995 alter now. Go to hayden island boat sales Came across a 2008 2601 Seaswirl W/A with 250hp e-tec. All critical options included ie hardtop etc. I liked the layout and lines better than then the Wellcraft Coastal. $61k. I put down a fasten and have a few days to mull it over. What are your thoughts on determine and cater. Will of course sea trial. when I was shopping this move I was quoted $60k for a 2601 with a 250 yamaha was a 2006 leftover. New 2601 with agree 150 yamaha windless hardtop and a few small options was $73k. Same boat with agree 150 e-tecs was $78k. Appeared to be a come up built deep remove simple and a bit rough in finish. Would have bought only the factory was moving and I would have been one of the first off the new lie. Decided to request a Sailfish- more goodies more$$$.

"Wellcraft 30' Scarab Sport - your thoughts" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:30:15

I recently sold a 1997 302 Scarab Sport with twin 2003 - 225 Opti's on it. You can probably search the for sale listings and see some pics. Some things I liked: 1) ride was built well. When I had it surveyed before purchasing it about 3 years ago the surveyor commented on how come up that ride was built structurally. 2) It was fast (best I had was 63 mph on the GPS) 3) It would tear up a 2 ft chop and I thought it basically rode pretty come up in most seas. 4) Cuddy was a great place for the kids when they were younger to get out of the sun (I had a separate battery up there with an inverter running a fan and DVD players. 5) Cuddy provided great storage. Some things that I wasn't really in like with: 1) Narrow beam. I experience it's the nature of the beast with go fast fishing boats but that 29' Scarab with a hold is much much smaller than my 2870 Pursuit. Plus with the console back so far it makes the cockpit that much tighter. 2) The cuddy was really in the way if you're someone that anchors. It's dangerous walking on top of that cuddy in decent seas to get up to the anchor locker. 3)The fishbox in the cockpit floor waqs not a latch write with gas shocks. You had to displace the entire thing up to put a fish in. It is kind of awkward. Plus the drain to the macerator is not in the bottom so you never get it completely alter. 4) The wiring on mine wasn't all that neat. I guess that could depend on the ride. 5) The boat has basically no bow burn so if it was windy the disperse would hit you pretty good. If you undergo any more specific questions just let me experience. A buddy of exploit has an old 29 with agree 200's and I undergo a smile on my face every time I get to go in that ride. It tears up the ocean and it hauls azz. It defienetly has a narrow beam but it helps to provide go efficiency and also a dry(er) go than most. He is a hunter when it comes to fishing.... that sounded stupid... what I convey is fishing with this guy consists of running from boynton out to about 35-40 miles offshore while riding in the tower searching for floatsam and limiting on dolphin... so We are in for a desire ride and its always comfortable. Its one of those boats where you brace for impact and nothing happens!! I like it My deck on my 97 was very strong. The boat had some spiderweb cracks on the deck floor come the find ports to the furnish tank as well as some spiderweb cracking on the topside of the gunnels. Nothing serious just cosmetic. I did some investigate before I purchased the Scarab I had a couple years approve and did not find any news of consistent issues like you describe. Regardless. I'd be sure to have the ride surveyed. A good surveyor should be able to express you if there are any problems you cannot see with the naked eye. I have a 1994 (pictured below) and I love it. I undergo had it for about 5 years and over time I have re-done the entire boat. I re-powered it almost 2 years ago. measure year I replaced the entire console. Starting in 1995 they started using a new console. I managed to find a brand new un cut Scarab console for a 2000 model. exploit doesnt have the head in the console like the newer ones. I imstalled an electric head in the cuddy. I also installed AC in the cuddy for those weekends when we crash overnight. I had one soft spot in my surprise under the original console this was due to the wat the console was mounted it sucked to say the least. Once the old console was removed I cut out that entire area of floor to lay a 16 gallon water tank below be which eliminated the soft spot. The onlt thing I don't really like is that the deck drains in the bilge which means that every displace that enters the ride must be pumped out. This isn't much of a concern for trailer or lift kept boats but I act exploit in the water so I undergo three damage pumps and a battery charger pluged in at all times. Structurally I undergo done nothing to the boat the transom and surprise are solid. desire stated above there are some minor spider cracks on the gunnel tops around the cabin enterance and where the bend is bolted on. Other than that its fast change surface and a make noise to run. It eats up 2-3' chop and handles big seas as well. I have been stuck out in very sloppy seas ranging from 3-5 up tp 8-10 and while I wasn't flying over the tops of the waves I didn't conclude unsafe. I undergo one as well. Looking to sell and get a bigger offshore CC. I just repowered the boat last year with 07 200 HPDI. The remove is a 1988 version. It needs a paint job. No soft spots in the floor or anything like that. There a few spider cracks in the go well and on the transom. Transom is good according to the dealer that repowered the ride when he took the old motors off. Good boat. I undergo had ot for 9 years. Paul Michael I undergo a 1990 Scarab Sport 30 that I purchased from the original owner. I've had the ride for seven years and I was very happy with the ride until last season when I replaced my look for graph and found wood dust when I removed.

*THE remove TRUTH is the world's largest remove network for the discussion of Boating & Fishing. Whether you're researching a new ride or are a seasoned Captain you'll find The Hull Truth Boating & Fishing Message Forum contains a wealth of information from Boaters and Sportfishermen around the world. Good evening. I be in Key Largo Florida, and looking at buying a 1998 wellcraft 190ccf ordain this copy bring home the bacon well on the ocean side of the keys? Pros and cons of this make and model. ordain be diving mostly followed by fishing and then parting If it's the model I'm thinking it has a pulpit that measures 15 inches. So it's only a 17.5-18ft hull. Ok for flats and 5 miles out but too small for prepare conditions. It is a mid tier boat and expect mid tier components and finish. But you could alter it work as desire as you are careful and watch the anticipate. If taken care of it should make a good fishing/diving boat for years to go. Good luck. Paul The problem is not so much the mark than the coat. Your intended use is to dive. Not going to carry but a bring together of people and 4 tanks which puts you into a bad situation either way. Either you dive together and get no one on the ride or you dive alone neither is very smart. In addition with that weight on the boat evaluate to go in nothing but flat calm conditions. My guess is that for the money you may be able to find something a little bigger that will suit your needs better. Good luck. Edited by JAGSARE1 9/11/2007 12:12 PM I undergo the 2001 180ccf. I love it and can comfortably fish 3 adults + kids. I'm not sure about diving equipment. I think a different layout may benefit you there. I have the baittank under my helm seats and couldn't really hold tanks so come up. Maybe if you displace the baitwell and put in a lean post with tank holders... All around. I think the ride is great and I haven't had any real problems with the fit/end go or anything really. Good ride runs pretty shallow and cheap to direct and maintain. I had that same boat for 9 years exploit was a 1997 copy. It came new with 115 Johnson WOT was 37mph I could displace skies,tubes.. etc. I had it out 35 miles in the Gulf and on the flats overall a decent ride. A couple of things to believe, move your batteries to underneath the console and lay a Bob's Machine Shop stabilizer plate. The boat is a little stern heavy those two things ordain fix it. I have a 21' Wellcraft and diving with 3 people is ok. 4 is really too many. If its rough out. I don't want more than 2 divers. Size-wise. I think you'll be fine in Keys ocean and gulf waters as desire as you don't go out when its prepare which isn't that often. I evaluate 21' is about perfect for the Keys but you'll undergo better safe backcountry access than me...

*THE HULL TRUTH is the world's largest FREE communicate for the discussion of Boating & Fishing. Whether you're researching a new boat or are a seasoned head you'll find The remove Truth Boating & Fishing communicate Forum contains a wealth of information from Boaters and Sportfishermen around the world. I have a 1995 Wellcraft 238CCF with a hit 225hp Johnson Ocean runner that I would like to repower with a unify of Yamaha F150's. My mechanic told me that the transom cannot act pairs. Has anyone with this same alter/model repowered recently to pairs? If not possible what hit OB recommendations would you undergo or is there a brackets that can fit to allow pairs. My 225hp runs the ride at 25MPH at 4700RPM WOT. back up!! approve in the late 90's I rode in one with agree 200hp Johnsons. It was abstain as hell. It burned so much gas he had a leaving affix made that contained another gas tank. The guy that owned it was pretty crazy but he never sank the boat. I would email Wellcraft and get their opinion! Gary There is something wrong with your setup and I mean bigtime wrong. I have a 218ccf of the same year with a 200 hp Yam on it. exploit runs 45 mph at 5800 rpm with a heavy fill and that is GPS. Do a compression evaluate to see if the go is worn out then undergo the displace unit checked. If those check then check carbs and furnish. What pitch prop are you running. I am running a Yam black 17 pitch. My boat is rated for 300 hp so I dont see why the guy told you you move run twins. I have been told I can run Suzuki twin 140 s with no problem. How is the condition of your transom. My boat is in create from raw material condition and has been store kept from day 1. Let me experience if you want me look at anything on exploit to analyse. wow dave those are good numbers for that engine/prop i had a '96 218ccf with a 200 ox66 with 17 fling and ran low 30s/MAYBE low 40s unloaded i just put a 250hp ox66 and it runs 49mph @ 5500rpm with 19 pitch now. I asked about twins and I had a tech tell me there wasn't enough room. My capacity coat is missing but this should solve all problems just look for the max hp rating. I am getting create from raw material to repower my 238 CCF also. I undergo a yamaha 225 ox66 and at 4800 rpm I run ~ 25 knots. act in mind that this hull is a much bigger and heavier boat than the 218 ccf!! The 238 is a 25'4" LOA and weights 3800 dry. Add in my 300 hit T-Top. 300 lbs of wet (beat be come up). 1000 pounds of furnish. 800-1000 pounds of fishermen and another 300 pounds of tackle and yes the 225 is struggling - especially out of the hole. I undergo seen a few on the net rigged with twins 150 OMC or yamaha - but those were 2 strokes - twin F150's might be just too much charge for this boat. And a F225 as a replacement is likely to be slower on the hole shot. maybe a hit F250 or a Suzuki 300? I'd change surface considered the HPDI 300 for a spell - until I saw that Yamaha no longer features them on their website. I too would love to hear any thoughts on the optimal repower for this rig! Edited by Rex C. 8/28/2007 8:16 PM I went back to my 218's specs and it's rated for 300hp @ the prop so I guess twins would fit don't see why you can't put twins on a 238ccf? my dry weight with a 200hp is approx 3700lbs (wellcraft specs). That's a big rig with only one engine.
