As more people are discovering every day those old antennas on roofs and in attics across this land of ours are ideal for snatching high quality digital HDTV and SDTV signals right out of the air. NBC. ABC. Fox. CBS. UPN. PBS. Qubo. The Tube - just a sampling of the channels that are currently being broadcast digitally over the air in major (and minor) cities all over the country. Yes the lowly over-the-air antenna is making a comeback. The HDTVi antenna is one of the less expensive options available (less than $30) and it actually serves dual duty as both a VHF and UHF/HDTV antenna. One of the performance measurements of an antenna is obtain this measures how good the antenna is at capturing signals. The CM4228 has a slightly higher gain than the 91XG below channel 55 but IMHO not enough to make any real difference. The 91XG is a better performer in multipath conditions (where you are getting reflections from buildings hills etc) because it has a narrower beamwidth. But you do need all your stations to be coming from the same direction. The CM4228 is still pretty directional but not as much as the 91XG. And as has already been posted the CM4228 has a much higher go loading so you be to alter extra sure your pole is very solidly mounted. And if you were thinking of using a rotor to get stations in multiple directions my recommendation would be for the 91XG - the CM4228 needs a heavy-duty rotor. What's your zip code??
