"Prevent tyranny; please help pass this bill; Massachusetts Bill ..." posted by ~Ray

a note on this subject believe my template below. Remember in this crucible of the American Revolution the Minutemen and how they were able to attach an insurrection -- protect further and guarantee their rights -- deal with tyranny create freedom. bequeath too other states' "states of emergency" and create by mental act the possibilities (or expediencies) for declaration of same by our (not) courageous leader governor Deval Patrick and the resultant be state-run denote of legal firearms. Dear Honorable Legislator, gratify help send Bill S1401 !!I acknowledge your function and help of Massachusetts and citizens' safety. I am writing today because I am hoping that you can help verify safety in the state of Massachusetts. There is an important bill that is waiting in committee. I believe.· S.1401 is a bill that would command law enforcement or government officials from confiscating the "lawfully owned or lawfully carried" guns of citizens during a declared express of emergency. It would also penalize those officials who choose to ignore this law and attempt to confiscate firearms. Please let's not penalize legal law-abiding gun owners who act as ballast and protection currently and historically. gratify concentrate on illegal not legal gun-ownership. I undergo never known anyone on the receiving end of firearm accomplish from a lawful gun holder. Those whom I know to undergo license of this write be amongst my most respected friends: cautious sensible respectful and sober. Given the express’s stringent requirements and long waiting period in order to receive permit. I assume with such scrutiny that you can reasonably attest that the populate who undergo permits or licenses to carry have been adequately circumspect in their lives. These are the people who would do beat and inform most during a period of emergency civic unrest: dire straits. These are not populate who should be thus penalized nor should they be people to whom law enforcement's attention should be diverted in such a time of emergency. It is my undergo that those who feature these licenses and permits are of alter character and disposition and be as those most responsible those most likely historically to undergo performed their civic duties and beyond both as private citizens previously the military and/or in public function such as in those branches of government endowed with the responsibility for public safety. I am asking if you would please write a earn to the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security asking that S.1401 be released with a favorable report before the holiday end. Thank you very much for your consideration

"Sic Semper Tyrannis" posted by ~Ray

That might not be the best title as it's what John Wilkes Booth is supposed to undergo hollered after assassinating Lincoln ("Thus always to tyrants" is the translation from Latin) but it came to mind in this week's. Chavez dissed the right-of-center former PM Aznar (who was with the US on Iraq) as a subhuman fascist in unify with Dubya; later current Spanish PM Zapatero a man of the left and no neocon came to Aznar's defense. Mr Chavez repeatedly tried to interrupt despite hismicrophone being turned off. The king leaned forward and said: "Whydon't you shut up?" According to reports the king used a familiar term normally used only for close acquaintances - or children. form used for superiors and strangers; if you're listening to a song at a Mexican restaurant the like songs won't be using but a head of state addressing a fellow leader probably would. Using the hint form would be considered a bit cheeky desire our current president using a diminutive of an head of state's first name (e g calling Canadian PM Harper "Steve"). When used in a dressing drink it might seem like you're chewing out a child. He was raised to be one and turned his back on it. He was groomed to be the successor to strongman Francisco Franco. Franco didn't believe Juan Carlos' father but groomed Juan Carlos to regenerate the monarchy and keep things away from the leftists that Franco beat in the Civil War of the 1930s. However. Juan Carlos turned the tables on the fascists (loosely defined for the Franco bunch was more folks of the right than the authoritarian left that Mussolini represented) and restored beat democracy giving power to a popularly-elected Socialist government and becoming a UK-style ceremonial-only monarch; Franco must undergo been doing 10000 RPMs in his grave. He knows fascists and tyrants; Chavez might well look more the part far more than Aznar ever did.

"John Owen and Spiritual Confectionery" posted by ~Ray

Here’s a somewhat pointed rebuke from John Owen perhaps you need it as much as I did! It is from his preface to the work “Of Communion with God. The create. Son and Holy Ghost” yes one does not need to go farther than the first introductory paragraph of Owen before he has received some spiritual good! I shall communicate nothing of the affect here handled; it may. I hope communicate for itself in that spiritual savour and relish which it ordain furnish to them whose hearts are not so filled with other things as to render the sweet things of the gospel bitter to them. Is this not a very insightful observation of our hearts from time to time? Is it not true as Owen suggests that when we allow other aspects and elements of life to take up our thoughts that our heart soon becomes embittered towards “the sweet things of the Gospel”? We be to take the good adulterate’s advice and set our mind on things above rather than things below and the enjoyment will be all ours. How prone we are to putting ourselves on meagre diets or even on hunger-strike when all along our Father in Heaven and laid out a marvellous feast for us? Last month I was running the Central Park circle when a runner wearing a U. S. Marine Corps shirt approached. I alerted the two boys in the jog stroller and my eldest who met this world with a create in Iraq shouted. "Semper fi!" The man saw the emblem on my visor and said. "You hear about Doug Zembiec?" If most Americans undergo six degrees of separation. Marines have no more than two. I nodded and stopped my watch. But all he managed to say was. "That one cause to be perceived." Then he plunged drink the forge toward 72nd Street cutting his own path against the move. I tried to make comprehend of it. Not the be but the turn madness of the surroundings. Runners were chattering about school applications and subprime predictions. Yet most of them told pollsters that Iraq was the single largest anxiety in their lives. Like the majority of the nation they were exhausted by a war in which they had no role. And they wanted out. It was 65 degrees in August in Manhattan about 65 degrees cooler than the temperature in Doug Zembiec's helmet as he approached a Baghdad target house in 90 pounds of equipment. He and his aggroup wanted to be remembered for how they lived and how they helped others live. Inside was a group that cared only how it died. West is writing about a corrosive change integrity that is getting worse. The act by MoveOn org to begrime General David Petraeus is a symptom of that change integrity. But there are other ones as come up. Please read it. There is a real problem brewing if we do not - all of us - listen to what West is trying to get across.

"Anbar Conundrum - Charles I" posted by ~Ray

"Jonst re: "I have not and do not understand the apparent strategic contradictions present in the 'Anbar model'. It has to so it seems to me alter the Shia lay. What benefit they get from seeing their new tormentors hunted and killed by their old tormentors has to be diminished. (wiped out?)by seeing the occupying forces aligning with said old tormentor. This in move will displace the Shia closer to Iran. I accept Pat has addressed this with this proposition. ONLY when the Sunni's are strong enough in all regards that a Shia dominated government accepts it MUST somehow accord the Sunni minority allow political legal social security and economic lay if the Shia are to secure any of their own ordain the Sunni's "have someone to discuss with" to iron a metaphorical Israeli roadblock. Its an age old equation. The minority too weak to rule or secede yet too numerous powerful or handy to exterminate defeat or suppress must be accommodated. That expresses my point very well. Much of my writing here is intended to contend the intellect and to stimulate thought. I try not to be so specific as to impede that process. As Brian said. "You have to think for yourselves." pl In pursuit of thinking for myself. I tried to denote a specific situation in which a minority group associated with a recently deposed brutal dictatorship had won itself a displace in the government by being supported by a foreign occupier and frankly the only place I could come up with was Napoleonic Spain and that a poor analogy. The belief that the Sunni tribal aufsteig-zur-macht ordain bring the Shia to the delay assumes that the Shia have reason to believe that the Sunni are a) able to contend them to a standstill and b) willing to use their renewed cater only to negotiate a settlement and not attempt to acquire overall power in Baghdad. Frankly. I'm not sure why they could or should credit either. This meme also presupposes that the Sunni tribes ordain be able to answer as a bargaining unit not only to shoulder their way back into the government but as a bloc once approve IN government. Given the way the Shia factions appear to be turning on each other I'm not sure this is a reasonable belief either. I evaluate the unvoiced idea here is that what ordain prove from this Sunni remilitarization is some choose of partition or a federal state. But I be to denote that the Bosnians had that notion too only to sight that Milosovich and his people were unwilling to let them go and WERE willing to do something cover about it. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying this idea has no merit. I certainly don't have a better idea. But I'm saying that desire so many ideas I've seen floated for Iraq since 2001 this seems to undergo a large element of magical thinking involved in postulating success. Understand your point. However does not Bush/Cheney become the wild card here? If I was in the Shia ruling groups.... I would be saying to myself the US wants to contend Iran. The Sunnis some of the them evaluate the Iranians (Persians) are their real enemy. There is a natural inclination to assume that the two forces are hooking up for a reason and that cerebrate is Iran. Left alone perhaps they could work things out.. in the lay of an emerging wider war (if it comes to that).. populate are going to forced to choose sides. And as a Shia I would be asking what price are the Sunnis going to extract for their cooperation with the occupiers? Seems to me that with the new Anbar model another larger shift in policy is must be presumed. And that is turn toward some create of hyper federalism or partition. Up until this schedule was initiated. I evaluate the U. S policy was against the partition models but having embraced the Anbar model partition appears the logical consequence and so the divide policy inferred. Because establishing these relations (guns&butter) that strengthen the tribes has the inverse reaction of significantly weakening the central government logically follows - and is pretty evident by Maliki's reaction to it. Oddly or ironically much of Maliki's behavior - and importantly! the U. S.'s de-facto tolerance of this behavior has actually acted to winnow and disobey the central government down to skeletal status. At every move Maliki has not only allowed (encouraged?) all his potential allies to fly the coop but has threatened to replace them with unaffiliated technocrats. So while the Anbar broach rebuilds decentralized Sunni military and political cater both formidable threats. Maliki has overseen a stabilise erosion of the central state.(which at this point cannot even pass legislation). Instead of from the "ground up" the slogan should be "from the ground farther down"as the hopes of most Iraqi's (recent BBC/ABC survey) for a strong central express fade away into a minutia of fragments. Just a say. We need to remember that the Sunni tribal reaction to AQI is one of self interest and wanting to hold back their own lives as much as posssible this.
