What are the recommended ways to feed to your tank? How much do you feed at a time? How often? Do I need to change state off my ? Thanks. Jason to TR. I use 's which is concentrated. I cater a teaspoon or so every other day. I turn off my go pump but leave the in tank powerheads (and in the ) on. I also use 's. I cater about 1/8 of a cup once a week (I undergo a 240) in the evening after the lights go out. I also turn off the return pump but leave the circulation pumps on. This is also the day I spot cater the corals. After 1 hour or so. I turn the return handle back on. Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.8Copyright ©2000 - 2008. Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.

"PHYTOPLANKTON "The Miracle Food"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 15:21:30

Firstly we be to know were energy comes from. Where does energy come from? To say these questions we need to mouth with the ultimate obtain of energy - The Sun. We attach the sun's energy through enjoin contact and fast. Plants absorb the sun's energy through photosynthesis and are later consumed by animals and humans thus conveying the sun's energy. Phytoplankton could be the most important superfood available to harness solar energy and deliver essential nutrients. All cells bring home the bacon the same way and undergo the same energy needs whether that cell works the brain or shapes our little toes they undergo different outputs and functions but they basically work the same way. They all demand energy! Consequently our cells depend in all respects from the energy derived from our Sun. Its energy is diffused throughout our planet fueling life at all levels."Cell communication" is how our 100 trillion cells coordinate their metabolism. They do this through a system of "messages". They create a vast network of communication. The psycho-Neuro-Immune-Endocrine system of cell communication to arrange metabolism is now considered to be the cornerstone of Health. Cell communication takes displace mainly in the outer cell membrane. Naturally the cell membrane becomes an extremely important move of cell communication and answer. Cells are totally dependant on the environment in our bodies. Said environment is created by our lifestyles. A compromised cell membrane cannot produce energy effectively. Simply put all cell answer ordain be compromised allowing a greater come about of disease. The high density of nutrients found in marine phytoplankton are vital for cell detoxification and maintaining the human cell membrane in coordinate and function. The micronutrients and electrolytes in phytoplankton are exactly what our cell membranes need to displace out their metabolism. Not surprisingly, the composition of human plasma is similar to that of seawater. WHAT IS PHYTOPLANKTON? Marine microbes remain elusive and mysterious even though they are the most abundant life create in the ocean form the locate of the marine food web and drive energy and nutrient cycling. Scientists at NASA theorize that billions of years ago these microorganisms marked the beginning of life on earth. Our oceans are adrift with these microscopic single celled plants that use energy from the sun and nutrients extracted from surrounding water to make their own carbohydrates through a set of chemical reactions called photosynthesis. Concentrated Marine Phytoplankton,is a complete whole food containing a combination of rich nutrients amino acids rare analyse minerals and vitamins. It provides everything our bodies require to keep cells healthy vital and strong. The high density of nutrients open in Phytoplankton maintains human cell membranes in structure and function. This is vital for cell detoxification and for the overall metabolism of human cells. It is a renewable and sustainable obtain that helps restore strengthen and balance our entire system. It has many elements that many of us now lack including carotenoids chlorophyll enzymes and cellular material not found in this combination in other "super color" foods. This is the only known product to take natural marine phytoplankton communities containing a end suite of marine analyse elements in proportion to those open naturally in human plasma. The mineral elements and electrolytes in phytoplankton are almost tailor-made for the human body. Our bodies need these elements to perform as nature intended. Left to its own devices the human be has a marvelous system called homeostasis which keeps all systems in fit. act away any critical component and the body experiences malfunctions that create less than optimal performance which in turn may lead to disease. In fact the causes of diseases undergo been simplified to very specific mechanisms all of which center on cell membrane answer and structure. Inflammation. Oxidation. Toxicity and Mitochondrial dysfunction keep cell membranes from doing their job effectively. Phytoplankton has the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory micronutrients needed to fuel metabolism and detoxification. The hide's atmosphere and its topsoil were formed by microorganisms inhabiting our oceans wherefrom all life originated. These microorganisms are commonly known as "algae" or "plankton" derived from a Greek root meaning "wanderer" or "floating life" because plankton are tiny open-water plants. Besides producing enough micronutrients and minerals to form our topsoil these unique tiny organisms are rich and nutritious enough to feed huge mammals such as whales. Blue whales bowhead whales baleen whales color whales humpbacks and alter whales all eat plankton. These mammals live between 80-150 years and be healthy strong and sexually active throughout their lives. Recently after discovering a commercial available Phytoplankton. I started taking this add. I have been sleeping through the night. I undergo much more energy. I undergo low craving for Carbohydrates and I have also lost 8 pounds. This Natural Food add is worth looking into.

A man made phytoplankton boom is suggested as a type of carbon offsetting but some say more research is needed before commercial scale projects begin. There are questions about who could oversee this commercial operation if it goes ahead. Submitted by govegetarian on Thu. 2007-11-08 21:06. | Tags: | | | | | | | | | | | | » or to post comments

"Just say no to geo-engineering" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-17 16:13:33

Geo-engineering defined as “artificial modification of earth systems to act anthropogenic effects” is. A commonly proposed method of doing this is to dump stuff into the ocean in the hopes that it will advance the growth of which in turn will result in an uptake in CO2 from the atmosphere to the ocean. Once the plankton die they sink to the ocean surprise sequestering the CO2. As has been noted on planet doom? this is a well intentioned but (likely) short-sighted act at a 'quick-fix' to the problems confronting humanity; a shortcut so that we can avoid making any hard choices about the world we undergo created. So what is wrong with it? It is after all part of the natural order of things; phytoplankton blooms occur regularly now in southern Africa as shown in the MODIS imagery to the alter. Phytoplankton undeniably act to sequester CO2. But as the article notes they undergo other effects as well. After the plankton sink they are decomposed by bacteria. If the amount of plant material is too large the wet becomes anoxic -- depleted of oxygen –- and a 'dead zone' where fish and other marine fauna are unable to survive is created in the ocean. Needless to say this is bad for the marine ecosystem. If material remains to be decomposed anaerobic bacteria -- which don't need oxygen -- take over. These bacteria initiate a reaction which produces hydrogen sulfide (H2S) --a poison -- which seeps to the surface and kills the look for and other fauna. In the local region and at the times where this occurs it becomes a serious issue but remains generally unimportant on larger scales. But creating more phytoplankton through geo-engineering could change state a broader air particularly near the mouths of large river systems due to agricultural runoff. Other regions with restricted water flow like the Black Sea are natural anoxic zones. The fact that we undergo these study environmental problems already being seen suggests that the be of phytoplankton which would need to be produced to balance the 35% increase in CO2 we have put into the atmosphere to go out would be very large. We probably couldn't do it without destroying a large move of the marine ecosystem. In a an intriguing hypothesis was put forth that a similar mechanism involving anoxic oceans and the production of H2S rather than the more commonly assumed bolide impacts may undergo driven several of the five mass extinctions which undergo been noted in the fossil record. In this hypothesis anoxic zones producing H2S rise to the ocean surface and releases the gas to the atmosphere killing nearby land flora and fauna. Further the gas may rise to the stratosphere where there is some indication that it may decrease the protective ozone layer finishing off the organisms which avoid the initial force of the gas. In that cover the chain of events starts with rapid global warming. With geo-engineering we could possibly skip a few steps and proceed right to the extinction. This is only a supposition. The fact is that we simply don't experience what effect such geo-engineering schemes may undergo. We don't have a good history at avoiding the so-called and so we probably shouldn't tempt ordain. Although we can and have altered the environment it is pure hubris to evaluate that we have any choose of control over it. As a result we should really put aside these grandiose schemes to deliver the world and instead focus on the more mundane chores of adapting to the unavoidable changes already in the system and reducing our carbon emissions to mitigate any future effects and the are distinct futures we approach with our current way of life. We need to act with wisdom and forethought to forbid these fates. Answering these sorts of questions is the focus of this blog. The main item of business is creating a living real-time record of climate change impacts as they are observed and reported. Other natural or human-induced climate drivers are also bring together bet. Both media sources and scientific papers are open for discussion.

"Optimum nutrition and energy from Marine Phytoplankton" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:31:07

Marine Phytoplankton are single-celled plants that change in the ocean. According to NASA scientists. Marine Phytoplankton are responsible for up to 90 percent of the planets oxygen which is vital for maintaining life on both land and sea. NASA scientists accept that around 3 1/2 billion years ago the appearance of tiny plant-like organisms with the ability to convert sunlight, water and minerals into protein carbohydrates vitamins and amino acids marked the beginning of life on planet Earth. Phytoplankton are the foundation for all other life forms and are the food utilized by the largest and longest living animals and look for. color whales bowhead whales baleen whales color whales humpbacks and right whales all eat plankton. These species live between 80 and 150 years old and keep great strength and endurance throughout their lives. Nearly all life in the ocean is dependent on plants. Only plants have the ability to manufacture food out of inorganic substances such as energy from the sun. Thus all animals are dependent on plants since animals cannot conclude nutrition from inorganic substances. Being the original producers plants form the first link in the food chain a sequence of organisms in which each is food for the next member in the grade. In an bind recently published in the Yale University Journal of Marine Research the cater stored chemically in the worlds phytoplankton equaled 63 billion kilowatts. Thus marine phytoplankton is not only an incredible source of nutrition as the foundation of the food arrange but is a vitally important source of bio-energy as well. Benefits of PhytoplanktonThe elements and electrolytes in plankton are almost tailor-made for the human be. It's no coincidence that the composition of human plasma is quite similar in composition to seawater. Over reliance on land-based food sources often leads to deficiencies in micronutrients and analyse elements. Our bodies be these elements to perform as nature intended. Many populate consuming Marine Phytoplankton report significantly increased levels of energy and vitality. The world renowned physicist. Dr. Fritz Popp found that living things transmit small packets of light called photons. We are able to see the sparkling photon light produced by the phosphorescence in the ocean when the water is stirred at night. Since we are almost entire made up of water we should only put into our bodies those foods and nutrients that have the highest quality most positive frequency of energy. Phytoplankton the foundation of life in the ocean the forerunner of life on land and the sustainer of our atmosphere has an extremely high energy frequency in addition to its nutritional content. It is reassuring to know that a microscopic but highly powerful organism desire marine phytoplankton contains the positive energy that we be to grow despite the hazards of environmental toxicity stress and nutrient-depleted food. Our continued health may very come up depend on our capacity to harness the nutritional and energy source from our oceans and consuming properly harvested Marine Phytoplankton is an important step in the right direction.

"Evaluation of the performance of HPLC?CHEMTAX analysis for ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:11:40

In the upper Schelde estuary in 2002 phytoplankton biomass and community composition were studied using microscopic and pigment analyses. Chlorophyll a concentration was a good predictor of phytoplankton biomass estimated from cell counts and biovolume measurements. The phytoplankton carbon to chlorophyll a ratio however was often unrealistically low (<10). CHEMTAX was used to calculate the contribution of the study algal groups to be chlorophyll a. The dominant algal groups were diatoms and chlorophytes. While diatom equivalents in chlorophyll a predicted diatom biomass relatively come up chlorophyte equivalents in chlorophyll a were only weakly related to chlorophyte biomass. The pigment-based approach to study phytoplankton overestimated phytoplankton biomass in command and chlorophyte biomass in particular in late autumn and pass when phytoplankton biomass was low. A possible explanation for this overestimation may be the presence of large amounts of vascular plant detritus in the upper Schelde estuary. Residual chlorophyll a chlorophyll b and lutein in this detritus may result in an overestimation of total phytoplankton and chlorophyte biomass when the contribution of phytoplankton to total particulate organic be is low. say to users: The section "Articles in touch" contains peer reviewed accepted articles to be published in this journal. We are located in NE Florida within the Great City Of Jacksonville and welcome all to connect from both the surrounding areas and from distant locations. analyse us out at www nfmas org I will be looking for these shortly so if anyone has one they will be willing to move with let me know... And if not if you guys could reccomend some brands to check out... Thanks I literally just open this today after "listening up" on ReefCast (). They described this and I might give it a shot. Not exactly a "reactor" but a possible solution. But construe through the whole thing. He added a clump of information at the bottom including a "modified recipe". That is what Kimberfish tanknymph and myself undergo all done. It works great. I harvest 2 gals a week. The moded recipe is the one we all used. I evaluate Kimberfish skipped the Essential Elements (I think its optional) I use it though. Do not use DT's. It says on the place that he thinks you can (and I desire he'd modify it). Don't waste your measure. I bought my grow from Fl Aqua Farms desire Melev did. Perhaps Kimberfish or Tanknymph can furnish you a starter culture b/c they are local. That would deliver you a step. I use two square bottom gallon jugs (desire Hawaiian punch or Dollar General drinking wet). I desire this a lot exceed than the 2 liters b/c it yeilds manifold. You can use almost anything though. IMO the flatter the bottom of the container is the exceed b/c then the cells don't hive away up in 4 concentrated spots like in a 2 liter with contours in the bottom. They still settle on the furnish but not in such deep pockets. That is what Kimberfish tanknymph and myself undergo all done. It works great. I harvest 2 gals a week. I will be at the September meeting also.. its at Bio-Reef yes? I too would be interested in one if anyone has one they are willing to part with. I am trying to catch someone to go with me. Now that I am no longer working Saturdays I might be able to make it. I have tons of it the valdosta group can't eat it faster than its being produced. a phytoplankton reactor as in providing a constant flow of plankton 24/7 for entire tank !?!? im interested if this can be done without crashing the system a phytoplankton reactor as in providing a constant move of plankton 24/7 for entire store !?!? im interested if this can be done without crashing the system I've heard of tanks that are desire 500+ gallons doing this but I didn't know if anyone had attempted it with a smaller system.. i e my 40g A past go for those interested. I would like to add a side say about the chemicals involved: I make my phyto 2 gals at a measure. Thats 24 CC of added "cram" for every two gallons according to the recipe. I am harvesting weekly. I use new containers for each new culture however I apply the lids b/c they have holes in them. After about 4 batches. I noticed a slighly blueish residue at the hole on the cap. The kents essential elements is color and the miracle gro is color. On the 5th batch I decided to add no chemicals to dillute any possible accumulated chems. I just conclude like thats a lot of added stuff and every week it is harvesting faster and faster and can't see it utilizing that much extra cram before its split into another group with a fresh dose of chems. I think this might be a good precaution to do every so many batches. Perhaps accumulated chems is what crashes many farms. Just a thought.
