This is an amazing thing our daughters are doing and I am so proud of them all for choosing this path. Do come here often as it will be your life line during 13 weeks of boot camp. Women Marines don't have a nickname and they don't need one. They get their basic training in a Marine atmosphere at a Marine affix. They acquire the traditions of the Marines. They are Marines.
Claudia,Thanks for welcoming me I have been following your develop the past few weeks and you are truly an insperation for all of us. I ordain commune for Cam and Brad. Cam must be a very strong young women to habe got this far and that comes from a strong mom.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm very happy to cater two mom's of girl recruits. I saw a "slogan" The Fewer. The Prouder the Female Marines! (I probably saw it on this site lol!) From what I understand the Marines might undergo fewer women that join and/or alter it through bootcamp than the other branches of service? I'm former Army and her father is retired Army but when she started thinking military. I tried to command her towards Airforce because I thought it might not be as difficult as the Army. (my appologies to any Airforce members) Then she calls and blows me out of the wet and tells me she has joined the Marines the hardest core branch of the military. "I want to make a difference" and "someone has to do this" and "so why would I join the 'easiest'" she says. I'm sorry for rambling. I'm just so proud of her and she's enlisted for what I consider all the right reasons. Dawn. I hope our girls will cater up and maybe they can support each other while we support each other. God arouse all that serve.
God Grant Me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change. Courage to dress the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Amoreena, beat of luck to you and your daughter. My daughter is also a Poolee though she won't ship out until next June. Our daughters ARE the fewer and the prouder and they ordain be awesome assets to the Marine Corps!
Amoreena our youngest son Justin will also be shipping out on Sept 24th for PI! We evaluate graduation ordain be around Dec 21st as well according to the Parris Island website. Your family sounds alot like ours LOL. While I undergo never served in the military my hubby retired from the Army after serving for 22 years in 2005. Our oldest son Bobby has been in the Army for almost 5 years and plans on making it his career. He has been to Afghanistan and shot at and is scheduled to head to Iraq next but he still loves what he does. We tried to command him toward the Air compel and he told us NO WAY he wanted to go Army just desire his Dad. Thankfully we were at least able to talk him out of going infantry and he chose to be a blackhawk crew chief/mechanic instead. Than we have Justin who we never thought would ever connect any of the military branches. So needless to say we were shocked when he said he was joining the military and even more shocked when he came home and told us he had joined the Marines. Than again I have always said he reminded me alot of my younger brother Ken and we would have never thought that Ken would have joined the Marines since.
