No. 1239-07October 20. 2007 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------DoD Identifies Marine CasualtyThe Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Cpl. Erik T. Garoutte. 22 of Santee. Calif. died Oct. 19 in Baghdad. Iraq. He was assigned to 1st hurry Anti-terrorism Security Team affiliate. Marine Corps Security Force Battalion. II Marine Expeditionary Force. Norfolk. Va. The incident is currently under investigation. It is with such a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the family loved ones and friends of Cpl. Erik T. Garoutte. I am so very sorry for your loss. Erik will always be remembered as an American Hero and his sacrifice and yours ordain never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
