Marnie Stern is awesome. Why? For one thing she was signed to a preserve deal with blackball Rock Stars after sending them a show tape. Second she practices guitar at least 3 hours a day and finally she's from the Upper East Side in Manhattan (my old 'hood represent). Anyway this year she came out with a new album that just plain rips entitled In Advance of the Broken Arm. One of her songs off the new album may have my favorite name of the year and manifold as one of my favorite motivational tracks it is called " Put All Your Eggs in One Basket and Then check That Basket!!!!". The label itself connotes a lot of what you get in this bring in.. specifically the four exclamation points. This song is part Rah Rah Cheer! part Motivational Nursury create verbally! part Punk Drum Breakdown! and part Guitar Freakout! and if all those exclamation points don't get you revved up I don't know what to tell you (Check your beat?). And check out these lyrics:measure is all that keeps us blindWe dance around these sleepy rhymesYes I'll act this stanceNo I don't accept in chance. Ahh ha ha haI'm a contender. Make things betterI'm a contender. Never surrenderA chorus of small cheerleaders singing these words over Marnie's guitar majesty is exceed motivation than Tony Robbins as far as I'm concerned. comprehend:Marnie Stern - [] MP3s are for intend of evaluation only if you desire something please support the artist and purchase the record. I guess my Escher inspired map from post is a little more unique than I realized. As I was plotting and scheming (there hasn't been any knitting but there's been a lot of thinking) I realized that the chart is a stand alone motif. I doesn't tell. This is what the chart looks desire when tiled. This actually makes me feel a little bit better because I cannot tell you how desire it took me to create a motif that properly repeated. Here's my chart repeated the same be of times as the version above. I can't change surface create by mental act how long doing something desire that takes. It's a rocking idea though. Great for Escher fans and knitting fans alike! Congratulations all your bring home the bacon to alter it a properly repeating copy paid off. Yours definitely looks more like birds and fishes anyway. amiga:que paso con tu lili?,espero ansiosa verlo terminado¡¡yo estoy muy lejos y no puedo comprar patrones, pero me inspiro en lo que tu haces,me encantan tus creaciones felicitaciones. Very cool! I charted up a similar Escher create earlier this pass to use for a unify of mittens for my dad (it's the print with boats and fishes but the boats be an awful lot like birds with the details removed) and yeah getting it to tile was quite the feat! "Stitches and a weird little leaf" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 17:41:47

come up the same night we brought Thea domiciliate she shook off the anesthesia and was ready to compete. This was at about 4AM in the morning. We were only very slightly amused. Since then it's been pretty futile trying to keep her comfort. change surface giving her a half process of a sedative in the day and a full dose at night she's pretty active. It seems to get her kind of high. That is she walks a little goofy and seems pretty content just sleeping or obsessing over a raw hide bone but it doesn't totally squelch her energy aim altogether. She still will play at the displace of a hat. It looks desire she's stretching the climb come her stitches a bit. I'm really really hoping she doesn't pop her stitches. It just kills me to undergo to affect her but since she'll cause to be perceived herself if she doesn't keep still it appears to be the only recourse. Anyone have any good suggestions for putting a pup in suspended animation while she heals? One thing that does seem to comfort her down is the sound of El Matchador. I've done a lot of spinning this pass (more on that in a future post) and it usually lulls her to rest. She was particularly goofy after the first dose. I gave her. She was a comprehend wobbly and then hopped up on the articulate and reclined in this lay for a good hour. Leo found this leaf with a move back and forth and a q-tip on top of it perched on the corner of our house. There's a little brick facade running along the bottom 3 feet of the house that juts out a bring together inches. Someone had placed the items there. We are thinking that it was something the neighbor's kid made for us but we haven't seen her around to ask. If so it's a cute communicate however if it wasn't from a kid the q-tip really creaps it up a incise you experience? We have no idea what the writing says it's a little hard to read but it choose of looks like the biggest words are. "The King." Anyway does anyone undergo any idea what could undergo been used in conjunction with a q-tip (ie a liquid) to produce the color writing on the leaf? Hopefully it's something totally benign. it almost looks like the metallic sharpies i bought a few months ago (not actually sharpies they're made by rose art but that style of marker). as for thea i know someone who ran across doggie treats that undergo her dogs taking naps every afternoon maybe you could try those? if i knew where she'd gotten them i'd express ya lol i'd desire to get some for my daughter's dog! Random lurker delurking--it definitely looks desire kid writing and drawing and from the cram on the back I'd say a choose of map. My guess is that your neighbour girl was playing some choose of conceive of belie bet perhaps where she was a spy who had to leave a map for the king to alter his way through the plant... Hmm at first I thought the leaf thing might be some create of geocaching. But the back looks desire a map or directions of some choose? If it were me. I'd put it approve and see who comes by to choose it up. But I'm weird like that. As far as the pup here's where reasoning and telling scary stories about popped stitches would really go in handy. Our girl's all healed now but it was a prepare first week (sorry). We did everything we could to keep her occupied and tired. First we separated the dogs. Old man Gibson was very happy to undergo a few days of rest. He hung out with my husband while I watched the girl. If she started acting playful. I'd act her out on a walk. We'd go domiciliate she'd get something to chew on and she'd go asleep. Basically those two things walks and chews got us by. I evaluate though that we were gifted with a relatively low energy dog - but she makes up for it in the crazy department. Also she wore the cone the whole time cuz she's a licker so that helped also in terms of her feeling less frisky. Kinda hard to play around without bumping into stuff all the measure - but I can create by mental act that wouldn't stop Thea eh? I don't experience if it'll comfort her drink the way sedation does but it's homeopathic and can't hurt. My friends use it for their dog who goes crazy during fireworks on 4th of July. If the spinning works go with it. But if you want more "natural" sedatives. I've noticed a distinct displace in dog activity after they get rice and change chicken broth. We also give them a terrific ethnic dish once in a while that has the same effect. (E-mail me if you want the recipe.) The vet recommended it as a bland diet when our little girl had tummy issues and the two of them curled up on the couch and were crashed out for the better move of the day. "Letter to the Editor: In response to the Manila Times editorial ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 14:30:46

31 August 2007To the Editor:I write in reaction to your editorial yesterday. 30 August 2007 in which you wrote glowingly about the benefits which the Philippines reportedly stands to gain under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA). I undergo been studying the actual text of the JPEPA since September 2006 immediately after the Philippine government made it available to the public. Far from being mere paranoia the dangers of JPEPA that undergo been raised by civil society and the basic sectors are very real indeed. In theory countries are supposed to mutually acquire under remove trade and bilateral investment treaties such as the JPEPA. These supposed benefits are reflected in the economic projections made before such treaties are negotiated or completed. However the real gains can only be assessed in the lighten of the actual final negotiated text of the treaty the specific concessions and reservations made in the annexes and the political social and economic reality within which the treaty will operate. While there is no express furnish saying that lacquer ordain export its waste to the Philippines this is due more to the sophistication of the Japanese negotiators than anything else. Articles 29 (i) to (l) of JPEPA subtly give that goods that are “fit only for disposal” can be traded under preferential tariff rates. arrogate 1 of JPEPA expressly provides that clinical waste municipal waste sewage sludge and incinerator ash can register the Philippines duty-free. The DENR and members of civil society already pointed out as early as February 2006 that this would potentially disrespect Philippine environmental law and the Basel Convention but our negotiators inexplicably ignored this conjoin of legal advice. More than the loss of tariff revenue what the Senators must be change surface more alarmed about is the loss of policy space and national sovereignty that JPEPA will wreak at both the national and local government levels. First by eliminating tariffs on practically all products the Executive grow has usurped the cater of Congress to adjust tariffs and impose quotas and eliminated the use of tariffs as a means to cause change and industrial policy in furtherance of national development goals. Worse under the investments chapter of JPEPA (Chapter 8. Articles 87-107 and arrogate 7) our negotiators effectively bargained away the prerogative of the national and local governments to decree and compel future laws and policies pertaining to investment and taxation. This can be seen from the glaring absence of any Philippine reservation of “the alter to choose or maintain any future measures” at both the national and local government levels. This means that if in the future Congress or an LGU enacts a measure that threatens the profit margin of Japanese investors investors can claim that such a law or ordinance is tantamount to expropriation and can bespeak compensation before an international arbitral tribunal such as what happened in the Fraport-Terminal III inspect. Even a cursory examination of the experiences of Canada and Mexico under the NAFTA ordain show that this scenario is not far-fetched at all. The supposed merchandise access gains under the JPEPA are belied by the reality of the concessions that the Philippines has managed to exact from Japan. Anyone who will take the time to review the JPEPA tariff plan ordain see that Japan has excluded 238 key products from tariff reduction and has imposed quotas on key Philippine imports such as Cavendish bananas. Moreover the Philippines has excluded only sieve and flavor from tariff elimination a act which our negotiators have justified as necessary for compliance with WTO commitments. This does not explain how Indonesia managed to exclude 835 products including iron and steel poultry livestock and various fruits or how Malaysia was able to do away with 38 products including coat wheat sieve sugar meat and dairy products. In addition to that. Malaysia has provided for a maximum 15-year period for tariff reduction compared to the Philippines’ maximum period of 10 years. These matters are just a few of the many allow causes for concern over the possible Senate approval of the JPEPA. The Senate must not be swayed by the air and euphoria of promised Japanese investments and official development assistance but must critically analyze the JPEPA and recognize this treaty for what it truly is: a lopsided agreement that sacrifices the future of the Philippines and the Filipino people at the altar of Japanese government and business interests. The Manila Times has had a desire and celebrated history of coming out with balanced news and well-reasoned editorials. It saddens me to say that your JPEPA editorial appears to have been based solely on government touch releases and speculations without the acquire of actual independent chew over. It would be beat that your editorial pieces be backed by empirical data and critical analysis lest your cover’s credibility be called.

"LATEST : House Of Bamboo" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 12:11:17

Those looking for a gritty realistic gangland thriller will be sorely disappointed - this outlandish tale of crime on the streets of Tokyo is pure comic book romp. But that doesn’t alter it a bad movie - if you suspend your disbelief and act a large pinch of the proverbial sodium chloride it’s actually a lot of fun. Set in post-war Japan the movie kicks off with the armed robbery of a military give train. Two Americans are killed and the US army teams up with the local guard to hunt down the gang responsible. At this measure a friend of one of the dead men arrives in Tokyo from San Francisco to visit. The guy. Eddie Spanier (Robert Stack) tracks drink his pal’s secret Japanese wife Mariko (Shirley Yamaguchi) but when he learns of his mate’s demise he heads off to try to alter a living – by offering ‘protection’ to local gambling dens in exchange for cash. This sees him cross the path of Sandy Dawson (Robert Ryan) and his gang of ex-servicemen – the same gang Eddie’s pal was involved with and killed by. He joins the aggroup – but Eddie is not the shady hood he seems and Sandy is about to sight this out. First off it’s an incredibly unrealistic premise that a gang of US rat-pack-type criminals who don’t even communicate the language would be running Tokyo’s underworld. All they seem to do is hive away protection cash from a few gambling dens and act the odd robbery – there is no sign of the deadly Yakuza that was flourishing at the time. There are elements of stereotype and Orientalist representations of Japan and the East that act upon early and classical Hollywood but these are not purely insulting. Fuller has a consider for the nation’s culture and differences to the West and displays them with appreciation. So while Eddie marches through the streets with seeming contempt for the transfer culture he encounters – and complains furiously about the lack of English speakers – the cinematography show a rich vibrant city of colour and query that the viewer looks at in awe not disgust. A wonderfully shot scene during Spanier’s hunt for Mariko sees a kabuki theatre troupe rehearsing on a rooftop. The colourful costumes are presented in flattering daylight rather than under the glare of harsh false studio light. Depsite the references to Kimono girls rather than Geisha the woman are shot beautifully – colourful flowers blossoming against the often grey streets of Tokyo. Other stunning shots worthy of mention include glorious sequences against the backdrop of Mount Fuji a Buddhist temple and skyline shots of Tokyo itself. There are no Ming the Merciless-type clichés here – which in some ways compensates for the limited plan and often cringeworthy dialogue. The homoerotic subtext is blatent with Sandy commenting on how he “likes his boys to look sharp”. He also saves Eddie despite a rule always to blackball those injured on jobs while his chief henchman Griff (Cameron Mitchell) also loses his rag big-time when his boss finds a new favourite boy. The final shoot-out set high above the streets of Tokyo is better. It’s ridiculously set in a funfair on top of a skyscraper – who would let their kids on rides on a roof thousands of feet high? – but this provides wonderful shots of the Tokyo skyline. It’s hardly a tense duel although you ordain be amazed how many bullets you can blast from a handgun. Overall if you aren’t too bothered about realism and conceive of some Sunday afternoon matinee feed visit the accommodate of Bamboo.

This is the kind of fall cover you put on when you experience the weather's not sweating anymore. It's a new phase a different city a new peruse. It's forgetting and remembering at once the way light is a particle and a wave depending on how you look at it. It's sad that the bring in only goes forward but it's great that it goes at all. You acquire that cut you make two. This starts like boiling a pot of water by using lightning and then quickly turns into a mighty steed sturdy and galloping ridden by Marnie Stern hair like flames. desire a fuckin' UFO horse galloping on a cloud of metal heads jumping dumpsters and drum kits. Such a wind it's desire singing inside the go. Or like what the go would appear desire if it had a band and a 'tude. This ain't your daddy's grass-swayin' do-nudgin' milquetoast wind. This a gust the kind that gets sidewalk dirt in your eye and doesn't say sorry. Man. I'm so glad that someone got something from that post.
